Animal In Me

If there was something I could be
That was anything but me
I would not be a dog
or a frog, or a hog

A wild thing I would be
Running free through the trees
In the woods, in the snow
Free in a world that will never cease to grow

My fur would be thick
My feet could crush sticks
My silvery mane
Would be anything but plain

My howl would cast fear
Into anyone who could hear
My eyes would pierce the night
And send animals running in fright

My teeth would be strong
My voice like a song
Ringing through the air
And traveling everywhere

My body would be large
Always ready to charge
In case of a threat
I would not break a sweat

My beauty and grace
Would leave all else in disgrace
My strength and smarts
Inspirations for great works of art

If I could be
Anything but me
I think I would have to be
A wolf.
